How We Got Here (Spoiler: It Involves a Goat)
Bex and Das met on a warm June evening, under a sky that had every idea what was about to unfold. They rode motorcycles together that night, down Marine Drive, Das constantly checking his rearview mirror to make sure Bex was still there. It wasn’t just because he’s a responsible rider, but because something about her already felt important.
That was in 2017. On June 6th. At 6:06 p.m.
As an Aquarius and Gemini pair (true Aquemini energy), they quickly discovered they were meant for epic adventures; the kind where one of them is chasing adrenaline and the other is chasing ancient stories and together they weave it all into something that feels both thrilling and sacred.
They agreed to date for three weeks at a time, no promises beyond that. Three weeks turned into three months. Then a year. Then three.
They floated in sensory deprivation tanks, chased oysters to the coast, rode rollercoasters, climbed archaic temples, ate mezcal-soaked oranges with crickets and talked about everything from the occult and UFOs to composting toilets and motorcycle side cars that would fit a Great Dane. They built a love rooted in curiosity, mischief, and the belief that life (and love) should always make you want to learn more.
And after three years, that cosmic pull became something even more tangible. Bex and her kids moved into the house, turning love into home, and adventure into something steady, sacred, and real.
There was no official proposal; Das had been secretly planning one for December 2024, when they would meet up in the Himalayas after Bex’s work trip. But before Das could make that happen… while working in Nepal, Bex realized she couldn’t imagine celebrating their love without her Nepali family, so she proposed they elope right there, and follow it up with a celebration in Portland. Das said yes, of course, and within 24 hours, he managed to have a suit made, pick out a mangalsutra, and show up in the village ready to marry his love.
And so they did.
On November 23rd, 2024, at Bajrabarahi Temple, a place where a goddess stomps on Ego while a diamond-headed sow perched on her shoulder devours ignorance, Bex and Das were married.
There was a priest, a 10 piece Newari Banarasi flute band, and a praying mantis who showed up as a guest at their bare feet, and spent many long moments settling quietly into their hands (because the universe has a sense of humor). Das’ shoes were stolen and ransomed back.
They were aiming for a perfect four-hour astrological window, but things unfolded as they tend to in Nepal; with Bex’s makeup running late and a goat sacrifice already in progress when they arrived at the temple. At the end of the ceremony, Das was asked to mark the part in Bex’s hair with vermilion powder and she was made to promise that she’d always keep the remaining powder hidden from anyone but him.
That night, Nepali pop songs took over their carefully curated playlist as they danced by the fire with friends.
It was perfect.
Now they’re bringing that love home to celebrate with all of you, on June 6, 2025; a date written in the stars from the very start.
Come with your magic. Come with your heart wide open. This isn’t just about us , it’s about all of us, and the love we grow together.
